CFH First Draft: George Scott

George Scott is the 30th person in a descendant report beginning with the earliest known ancestor of our Callin family, (1.) James Callin. This descendant report uses the Register Style of the New England Historic and Genealogical Society.

Fourth Generation

30. George Scott (Sarah Callin-3, James “2nd-2, James “1st”-1) was born on 1 Aug 1827 in Richland County, Ohio and moved with his family abt 1839, when they settled in Harrison, Winnebago County, Illinois.

George Scott and Lucetta P Beach were married in 1851. Lucetta was the daughter of Asher Beach (1800–1860) and Mercy Yaw (1797–1854), born on 1 May 1833 in New York. Her family lived in Howard, Winnebago County, Illinois in 1850.

After they married, George and Lucetta lived for a time in Wayne, Mitchell County, Iowa (1856) but they soon moved back to Harrison, Winnebago, Illinois, where they remained.

George died on 10 Sep 1905 at the age of 78 and was buried in the North Burritt Cemetery in Winnebago County, Illinois. After his death, Lucetta went to live with their daughter, Alma Wicks, in Harrison, where she appeared on the census in 1910. She died on 4 Nov 1912 at the age of 79 and was buried in North Burritt Cemetery with her husband.

George Scott and Lucetta P Beach had five children:

91 i. Violetta Scott, born 12 Feb 1856, Iowa; married Nathan H Knight, 30 Dec 1874, Rock County, Wisconsin; died 14 Nov 1928, Winnebago County, Illinois.

92 ii. Charles A Scott, born 28 Mar 1858, Iowa; married Elisabeth C Cowan, 1881; died 11 Apr 1940, Walhalla, Pembina, North Dakota.

93 iii. Mercy Elizabeth Scott, born 23 May 1860, Illinois; died 9 Apr 1898, Winnebago County, Illinois.

94 iv. Sarah Alma Scott, born 9 Oct 1862, Harrison, Winnebago, Illinois; married Thomas Wicks, 21 Jan 1882, Winnebago County, Illinois; died 15 Apr 1944, Rockford, Winnebago County, Illinois.

95 v. Edward George Scott, born 7 Jun 1866, Illinois; married Mary Ellen Parker, 1892; died 2 Dec 1948, San Diego County, California.
