Violetta Scott is the 91st person in a descendant report beginning with the earliest known ancestor of our Callin family, (1.) James Callin. This descendant report uses the Register Style of the New England Historic and Genealogical Society.

Fifth Generation
91. Violetta Scott (George-4, Sarah Callin-3, John-2, James "1st"-1) was born on 12 Feb 1856 during the few years her parents farmed in Wayne, Mitchell County, Iowa. By 1860, they had returned to Harrison, Winnebago County, Illinois, where Violetta grew up.
Violetta married Nathan H Knight on 30 Dec 1874 in Rock County, Wisconsin. Nathan was born about 1850 in Cumberland County, Maine, son of Peter Knight (1794–1865) and Ann Hall Winslow (1816–1897). The Knights came from Portland, Maine, to Harrison, Winnebago County, Illinois in an oxcart in 1854, and Nathan grew up there. After they married, Nathan and Violetta raised their daughters on a farm in Harrison.
Nathan died on 27 Apr 1919 at the age of 67 in Harrison, and was buried in North Burritt Cemetery in Winnebago County. Violetta lived in Shirland, Winnebago County, and when she died on 14 Nov 1928 at the age of 72, she was buried in North Burritt Cemetery with her family.
Nathan H Knight and Violetta Scott had the following children:
i. Lucetta A Knight was born about 1876, died on 21 Jan 1885 at the age of 9, and was buried in North Burritt Cemetery in Winnebago County, Illinois.
291 ii. Elsie Leah Knight, born 12 Jan 1879, Harrison, Winnebago County, Illinois; married Frank Horace Austin, 5 June 1901, Winnebago County, Illinois; died 15 Dec 1938, Rockford, Winnebago County, Illinois.
292 iii. Iva Viola Knight, born May 1881, Illinois; married Albert Jesse Austin, 30 Dec 1908, Winnebago County, Illinois; died 12 Mar 1923.
293 iv. Alice Bessie Knight, born Aug 1884, Illinois; married George Graham Helmer, 31 Jan 1911, Winnebago County, Illinois; married Edward Reckinger, 1936, Boone County, Illinois; died 24 Dec 1958, Winnebago County, Illinois.
294 v. Blanche Nathalia Knight, born 14 Sep 1889, Illinois; married John Ferdinand Austin, 3 July 1912, Winnebago County, Illinois; died 4 Nov 1971, Placer County, California.
