Fourth Generation

35. John C. Callin (George-3, James “2nd-2, James “1st”-1) was born on 23 Nov 1830 in Ohio. John and Helen Minor were married on 1 Nov 1854 in Huron County, Ohio. Helen Minor, daughter of John M Minor and Susan Augusta Powers (1815–1854), was born about 1836 in New York.

John farmed in Peru Township, Huron County, in 1860 and registered for the draft from Ridgefield, Huron County, on 1 Jul 1863. Helen died before 1870; I have not seen any records that tell us when she died, but other researchers give her date of death as 21 November 1869.  John remained with their two children on the farm near Monroeville, Huron County, Ohio in 1870. He lived with his mother in Monroeville in 1880 and with his son in Huron, Erie County, Ohio in 1900.

John died on 6 Dec 1905 at the age of 75 in Elkhart, Elkhart, Indiana. He was buried in Riverside Cemetery in Monroeville.

John C. Callin and Helen Minor had two children:

115 i. James Callin, born Sep 1855, Ohio; married Hattie Manerva Bartow, 1876; died 1930, Miami, Miami-Dade, Florida.

116 ii. Jennie M. Callin was born 4 Apr 1857 in Ohio; married Silas Henry Clausin abt 1877; married Benjamin Franklin Strohm on 4 May 1884; died in 1924.
