Third Generation

 16. Hugh Callin (John-2, James "1st"-1) was born about 1817 in Pennsylvania (apparently just before his father moved the family to Ohio). Hugh and Barbara Ann “Barbary” Mathews (or Matthus) were married on 13 Apr 1843 in Richland, Ohio. Barbara Ann Mathews, daughter of John (1775–1870) and Isabella Mathews (1783–1850), was born about 1826 in Ohio and grew up in Milton Township, Richland County.

Hugh and Barbary lived in Milton, Ashland County, Ohio in 1850. Hugh died on 17 Apr 1856 at the age of 39 and was buried in Chestnut Grove Cemetery, Ashland, Ashland County, Ohio.

Barbary remained in Milton until at least 1860 but moved her family to Vermillion, Ashland County, by 1870. In 1874 she married William Davis (1836–1915), and they lived in Vermillion until Barbary died about 1887.

Hugh Callin and Barbara Ann Mathews had four children:

58 i. Mary Etta Callin, born 29 Apr 1846, Ashland County, Ohio; married Jacob L Sattler, 26 Sep 1871, Ashland, Ohio; died 18 Aug 1913, Ashland County, Ohio.

59 ii. John F Callin, born 1850, Ohio; married Catherine Ann Steigerwalt, 26 May 1879, Ashland County, Ohio; died 27 Dec 1907, Ohio.

60 iii. Frederick B Callin, born 1854, Ohio; married Harriet R "Hattie" Crippen, 25 Mar 1883, Ashland, Ohio; died 28 Mar 1920, St Augustine, St Johns, Florida.

iv. Margaret L "Maggie" Callin was born in 1856 in Ohio. Maggie died on 19 Dec 1882 at the age of 26 and was buried in Ashland, Ashland County, Ohio.
