Fourth Generation

18. Mary Montgomery (Elizabeth Callin-3, James "2nd"-2, James "1st"-1) was likely born in 1823 in Richland County, Ohio. The first child of Caleb and Elizabeth (Callin) Montgomery, she would have been more than ten years old when her mother died in Ohio and about 15 when her father moved the family to Indiana. The biography of her brother, Theodore, published in 1883 lists her as simply, “Mary, now deceased.” She does not appear in public records, outside the marriage records cited here.

Mary and James Ferrell were married in 1843 in Rochester, Fulton, Indiana. James Ferrell only appears in the marriage records; we do not know where he was from or when he died; that said, there was a Ferrell family in Milton Township, and some of them may have moved to Fulton County when the Montgomery families did.  Mary died, probably in 1846, at the age of 22 in Newcastle, Fulton County, Indiana.

James Ferrell and Mary Montgomery had one child:

61 i. Sarah Elizabeth Ferrell, born 20 Jan 1846, Indiana; married Josiah S Powell, abt 1864, Oregon; married E J S Page, 4 Aug 1867, Marion County, Oregon; married James Addison Bushnell, 2 Apr 1870, Lynn County, Oregon; died 29 Jan 1916, Lane County, Oregon.
