Third Generation
Elizabeth Callin and Caleb Montgomery were married on 13 Aug 1822 in Richland County, Ohio. Caleb Montgomery was born on 23 Jun 1799 in Virginia. He was a son of Olivesburg’s founder, Benjamin Montgomery (1766–1841) and Nancy (Ann) Nottingham (1768–1866). His family moved to Richland County, Ohio, when he was about 17 years of age.
Caleb and Elizabeth had five children in Olivesburg, Richland, Ohio in 1830. After Elizabeth died, Caleb remarried Sarah L. Mercer, who was born in Ohio in 1812. Caleb moved his family to Rochester, Fulton County, Indiana, where they appeared in the Census in 1840, 1850, and 1860.
Caleb died on 23 Feb 1872 at the age of 72 in Fulton County, Indiana.
Caleb Montgomery and Elizabeth Callen had five children:
18 i. Mary Montgomery, born 30 May 1823, Richland County, Ohio; married James Ferrell, 19 Jan 1843, Rochester, Fulton, Indiana; died 4 Apr 1846, Newcastle, Fulton, Indiana.19 ii. Sarah Montgomery, born 27 Dec 1824, Olivesburg, Richland, Ohio; married Henry Davidson, 22 Apr 1841, Fulton County, Indiana; died 8 May 1918, Lebanon, Linn, Oregon.20 iii. Theodore Montgomery, born 12 Sep 1826, Richland County, Ohio; married Margaret Wilson, 11 Mar 1849, Fulton County, Indiana; died 1 Apr 1904, Rochester, Fulton, Indiana.iv. Porter Montgomery was born in 1828 in Richland County, Ohio; he died at Vicksburg, Mississippi.21 v. Callin "Cal" Montgomery, born Oct 1829, Richland County, Ohio; died 3 Oct 1912, Napa County, California.
