CFH First Draft: Sarah Elizabeth Scott Reber

Sarah Elizabeth Scott is the 106th person in a descendant report beginning with the earliest known ancestor of our Callin family, (1.) James Callin. This descendant report uses the Register Style of the New England Historic and Genealogical Society.

Fifth Generation

106. Sarah Elizabeth Scott (Cyrus H-4, Sarah Callin-3, John-2, James "1st"-1) was born on 12 Apr 1869 in Harrison, Winnebago County, Illinois. She spent part of her childhood there, and part in New Albany, Story County, Iowa.

Sarah and Clayton Ruhl Reber were married on 23 Dec 1896 in Winnebago County, Illinois. Clayton was the son of George W Reber (1835–1912) and Elizabeth Ruhl (1839–1901) from Centre County, Pennsylvania. Clayton was born on 27 Oct 1870 and spent his boyhood in Miles, Centre County.

Sarah and Clayton farmed in Owen Township and Harrison. Sarah's father, Cyrus, lived with them in his last years. Later, Clayton also worked as a repairman, and as a carpenter in Rockford.

Sarah died on 2 Sep 1948 at the age of 79 in Rockford, and was buried in Harrison Cemetery, Winnebago County, Illinois.

Clayton remarried on 7 Jun 1950 in Winnebago County, to the former Mary Estell Blair (1874–1960), widow of Charles E Pierson. Mary was born on 9 Jan 1874 in Davenport, Scott County, Iowa. They lived together in Rockford, and when she died on 23 Apr 1960, she was buried in Oakdale Memorial Gardens in Davenport.

Clayton died in Jan 1968 at the age of 97 in Rockton and was buried in Harrison Cemetery, with his first wife, Sarah.
