CFH First Draft: Harvey N Dobson

Harvey N Dobson is the 110th person in a descendant report beginning with the earliest known ancestor of our Callin family, (1.) James Callin. This descendant report uses the Register Style of the New England Historic and Genealogical Society.

Fifth Generation

110. Harvey N Dobson (Lucina Scott-4, Sarah Callin-3, John-2, James-1) was born in Mar 1866 and grew up in Burritt, Winnebago County, Illinois. Harvey married Carrie P Ackra in 1888 in Rockford, Winnebago County, Illinois. Carrie was the daughter of Albert Ackra (1837–1922) and Carrie Johnson (1848–1921), born on 12 Sep 1870 in Norway. Her family immigrated to the United States about 1882, and settled in Malta, DeKalb County, Illinois.

Harvey and Carrie had two daughters and two sons in Rockford before Harvey died around 1905. (As of this writing, no obituaries, death records or memorials for Harvey have been located.) Carrie remarried the recently widowed Walter A Holcomb (1860–1932) on 1 May 1907, and they remained in Rockford, raising the younger Dobson children and another son, Walter Lincoln Holcomb (1911–1969). 

            Walter died on 30 April 1902, and is buried with his first wife in Silver Creek Cemetery, located in Leaf River, Ogle County, Illinois. Carrie died on 7 Aug 1935 at age 64 in Rockford and was buried on 9 Aug 1935 in Malta, De Kalb County, Illinois. 

Harvey N Dobson and Carrie P Ackra had the following children:

       334          i.   Eva May Dobson, born 19 Dec 1889, Illinois; married Harland Roscoe Snyder, 19 Dec 1907, Winnebago County, Illinois; died 21 Oct 1983, Sacramento County, California.

       335         ii.   George H Dobson, born 22 Feb 1892, Illinois; married Ruby B Maddox, 20 Jan 1926, Oklahoma County, Oklahoma; died 6 Mar 1977, Muskogee, Muskogee County, Oklahoma.

       336        iii.   Clarence A Dobson, born 16 Sep 1896, Preston, Richland County, Illinois; married Norma Elizabeth Nelson abt 1921; married Ethel Stratton abt 1941; died 11 Jan 1977, Quincy, Adams County, Illinois.

       337        iv.   Jessie Marie Dobson, born 13 Oct 1903, South Grove, De Kalb County, Illinois; married Raymond S Hamlin; died 14 Mar 1999, Roscoe, Winnebago County, Illinois.
