CFH First Draft: Laura (Lark) Robinson Cook

Laura "Lark" Robinson is the 117th person in a descendant report beginning with the earliest known ancestor of our Callin family, (1.) James Callin. This descendant report uses the Register Style of the New England Historic and Genealogical Society.

Fifth Generation

117. Laura “Lark” Robinson (Minerva Callin-4, George-3, John-2, James-1) was born on 15 Dec 1870 in Gridley, Coffey County, Kansas, and she grew up in Liberty, Coffey County, where she lived with her father after her parents divorced.

Lark married Jeremiah Luther Cook in 1891. Jerry Cook, son of William F Cook and Mary Shaw, was born on 3 Mar 1843 in Pendleton County, in what was then still Virginia. He grew up in Mill Run, Pendleton, West Virginia. On 7 Mar 1878 Jerry married his first wife, Martha E Hartman (1859–1886), in Pendleton County, West Virginia. They had a daughter, Mary, who did not survive, and a son, Isaac Newton Cook (1881–1957), who did. They lived in Bethel, Pendleton County until after Isaac’s birth, but soon moved to Missouri. Martha died on 26 Aug 1886 and was buried in East Side Cemetery in Lamar, Barton County, Missouri.

Lark and Jerry farmed and raised their family in Cass, Douglas County, Missouri. At some point after 1910, they removed to Lamar.

Jerry died on 25 Oct 1919 at age 76 in Lamar, Barton County, Missouri, and he was buried in East Side Cemetery in Lamar. Lark remained in Lamar through the 1940s. She died on 1 Dec 1954 at age 83 in Independence, Missouri, and was buried in Lake Cemetery in Lamar Heights, Barton County, Missouri, leaving behind 89 descendants.

       370        iii.   Maudie Fay Cook, born 10 Oct 1895, Lamar, Barton County, Missouri; married Willard Leslie Pyle, 29 Feb 1916, Lamar, Barton County, Missouri; married Ora Clayton Keller abt 1922; married Guy McCullough, abt 1948, California; died 17 Mar 1964, San Bernardino County, California.

       371        iv.   Martha Etta Cook, born Nov 1898, Missouri; married Walter Griggs Waring; married Hugh Grover Watts; died 5 Mar 1981, Lamar, Barton County, Missouri.

       372         v.   Harry Lee Cook, born 6 Sep 1901, Douglas County, Missouri; married Nellie Stella Hines abt 1925; died 30 Sep 1985, El Dorado Springs, Cedar County, Missouri.

       373        vi.   Daina Austin Cook, born 21 May 1905, Douglas County, Missouri; married Helen Lucille Jarvis; died 20 Oct 1965, Kansas City, Jackson County, Missouri.

       374       vii.   Willie Walter Cook, born 16 Sep 1907, Missouri; married Jennie June Bell, 20 Oct 1933, Stockton, Cedar County, Missouri; died 7 Dec 1984, Mount Vernon, Lawrence County, Missouri.
