Fifth Generation

111. Fred A Dobson (Lucina Scott-4, Sarah Callin-3, John-2, James-1) was born on 8 Sep 1869 and he grew up in Burritt, Winnebago County, Illinois. Fred married Sarah Margaret Smith 30 May 1892 in Dekalb County, Illinois. Sarah was born in Jan 1868. We know very little about Sarah's family; her father's name was given as "John" on her death record in the Illinois, Deaths and Stillbirths Index, 1916-1947 database. She was born "at sea" according to most of her census records; the 1930 Census specifies that she was born in the Indian Ocean.

Fred and Sarah had two daughters, whom they raised in Rockford, at 1038 Kilburn Ave. Fred worked as a manager in an ice plant, as an engineer for Putney Brothers, and in the 1930s as a janitor.

Sarah died on 24 May 1943 at age 75 in Rockford, Winnebago County, Illinois. Fred died on 22 Dec 1964 at age 95.

Fred A Dobson and Sarah Margaret Smith had the following children:

338          i.   Hazel B Dobson, born 2 Dec 1899, Illinois; married Homer McDonald, about 1924, Illinois; died 3 Mar 1970, Rockford, Winnebago County, Illinois.

339         ii.   Flora Eva Dobson, born about 1905, Illinois; married Cecil Dewey Evert Keagle, 1925, Boone County, Illinois.
