CFH First Draft: William T Sharp

William T Sharp is the 100th person in a descendant report beginning with the earliest known ancestor of our Callin family, (1.) James Callin. This descendant report uses the Register Style of the New England Historic and Genealogical Society.

Fifth Generation

100. William T Sharp (Rebecca Scott-4, Sarah Callin-3, John-2, James "1st"-1) was born in Oct 1860 and grew up in Burritt, Winnebago County, Illinois.

William and Katherine Mary "Katie" Drain were married on 7 Mar 1882 in Winnebago County, Illinois. Katie Drain, daughter of James Drain (1816–1859) and Margaret McGeachie (1819–1874), was born on 27 Feb 1858 in Campbeltown, Argyllshire, Scotland, and spent her childhood there. She came to America, arriving in New York on 26 December 1879 aboard a ship called Ethiopia.

After their wedding, William and Katie farmed in State Center, Marshall County, Iowa, with Katie’s brother, Archibald, listed in their household as a farm hand in 1885. By 1900 their family had settled permanently in Corinth, Osborne County, Kansas.

William died in 1926 at the age of 66. Katie died on 14 Nov 1933 at the age of 74. They were buried together in Corinth Cemetery, Osborne County, Kansas.


William T Sharp and Catherine Mary "Katie" Drain had the following children:


316 i. Edward James Sharp, born 11 May 1883, Marshall County, Iowa; married Cecile Jefferies, 20 Jul 1910, Saint Joseph, Buchanan County, Missouri; died 30 Aug 1957, Missouri.

317 ii. William Archie Sharp, born 18 Mar 1896, Gove County, Kansas; married Millie May Irey, 27 Jul 1918; died 24 Mar 1996, Downs, Osborne County, Kansas.
