CFH First Draft: Fred Edward Sharp

This post is part of an ongoing series, sharing the first draft of my Revised Callin Family History

Fred Edward Sharp is the 103th person in a descendant report beginning with the earliest known ancestor of our Callin family, (1.) James Callin. This descendant report uses the Register Style of the New England Historic and Genealogical Society.

Fifth Generation

103. Fred Edward Sharp (Rebecca Scott-4, Sarah Callin-3, John-2, James "1st"-1) was born on 10 Aug 1878 and grew up in Burritt, Winnebago County, Illinois. Fred and Lillie May Taylor were married on 4 Oct 1899 in Winnebago County, Illinois. Lillie, daughter of Joseph S Taylor (1852–1946) and Amelia D Starin (1856–1924), was born on 22 Jan 1881 in Darien, Walworth County, Wisconsin. Lillie’s family remained in Darien until sometime after 1891, when they moved to Winnebago County, Illinois.

Fred ran a landscaping business in Rockford, and he and Lillie raised their four children there. When they were older, his sons worked for him.

Lillie died on 7 Jan 1946 at the age of 64 in Shirland, and was buried in North Burritt Cemetery in Winnebago County, Illinois. Fred died on 4 Apr 1951 at the age of 72 in and was buried in North Burritt Cemetery with his wife.


Fred Edward Sharp and Lillie May Taylor had the following children:


323 i. Edward Joseph Sharp, born 13 July 1900, Illinois; married Marilla Lavergne Spafford, abt 1923; died Apr 1986, Shirland, Winnebago County, Illinois.

324 ii. Joseph Allan Sharp, born 23 Mar 1902, Illinois; married Ruth M Herbert, 26 June 1926, Rockford, Winnebago County, Illinois; died June 1980, Shirland, Winnebago County, Illinois.

iii. Mildred Mae Sharp was born on 21 Sep 1904 and grew up in Shirland, Winnebago County, Illinois. She graduated Rockford High School in 1922, and worked in Rockford as a bookkeeper and clerk. She remained single her entire life and supported herself until her retirement.. She died in Apr 1984 at the age of 79 in Rockton, and was buried in North Burritt Cemetery in Winnebago County, Illinois.

iv. Allie Francis Sharp was born on 17 July 1910 and graduated from Rockford High School in 1928. He remained in his parents home, where he worked for his father as a landscaper. Allie died on 9 Sep 1974 at the age of 64 in Beloit, Rock County, Wisconsin, and was buried in North Burritt Cemetery in Winnebago County, Illinois.
