CFH First Draft: Eliza Ferguson Myers

Eliza Ferguson is the 50th person in a descendant report beginning with the earliest known ancestor of our Callin family, (1.) James Callin. This descendant report uses the Register Style of the New England Historic and Genealogical Society.

Fourth Generation

50. Eliza Ferguson (Eliza Callin-3, John-2, James "1st"-1) was born in March 1847 in Ohio and grew up in Jackson, De Kalb County, Indiana. Eliza and Welby N. Myers were married on 16 Apr 1863 in De Kalb, Indiana.

Welby N. Myers, son of Nathan Myers and Leah Wagner, was born on 25 Jan 1842 in Lehigh County, Pennsylvania. His brother, Daniel, married Eliza’s older sister, Sarah.  The Myers family lived in Thompson, Seneca, Ohio in 1850, and had relocated to Perry, Allen, Indiana by 1860.

After they married, Eliza and Welby relocated to Michigan, where Welby found work as a carpenter in Roxand, Eaton County in 1870. They returned to farm in Butler, De Kalb County, Indiana by 1880 and they lived in Jackson, De Kalb County by 1900, where they continued farming. By 1910, Welby retired from farming, and they bought a house in Union City, De Kalb County, eventually moving back to Auburn, De Kalb County, by 1920.

Eliza died in Fort Wayne, Allen County, Indiana on 1 Mar 1920 at the age of 73. Welby died on 25 Jan 1931 at the age of 89 in Lafayette, Tippecanoe County, Indiana.

Welby N. Myers and Eliza Ferguson had five children:

178 i. Mary Augusta "Mollie" Myers, born 13 Apr 1864, Indiana; married Richard Jefferson Davis Cowan, 14 Feb 1884, Knox County, Indiana; died 2 Dec 1927, Hornersville, Dunklin, Missouri.

179 ii. Amanda A Myers, born 23 Jul 1865, Indiana; married Thomas J Cool, 12 Jul 1881; died 11 Oct 1905, Flint, Steuben, Indiana.

180 iii. Carrie A. Myers, born Apr 1866, Michigan; married Oscar Hanes, 23 Dec 1886, De Kalb, Indiana; died 22 Apr 1954, Butler, De Kalb County, Indiana.

181 iv. Minerva Almeda Myers, born 10 Sep 1869, Eaton County, Michigan; married Clement V Brandon, 15 Jan 1887, De Kalb, Indiana; died 14 Aug 1900, Jackson, De Kalb, Indiana.

182 v. James N Myers, born 10 Sep 1881, Indiana; married Grace A Perry, 1 Jun 1910, De Kalb, Indiana; died 12 Jul 1923, Wood County, Ohio.
