Harriet E. Callin is the 53rd person in a descendant report beginning with the earliest known ancestor of our Callin family, (1.) James Callin. This descendant report uses the Register Style of the New England Historic and Genealogical Society.

Fourth Generation
53. Harriet E. Callin (William H.-3, John-2, James "1st"-1) was born on 2 Mar 1838 in Richland County, Ohio and grew up on her father’s farm in Peru Township, Huron County, Ohio.
Harriet E. Callin and William Sly were married in 1859 in Monroeville, Huron County, Ohio. William Sly was born about 1834 in Wiltshire, England, the son of James Sly (1786–1849) and Susannah Kelley (1796–1847) of Horningsham.
After their wedding, the young couple lived in Oxford, Erie County, Ohio in 1860. William registered for the draft in Plain Township, Wood County, Ohio, on 1 Jul 1863, and he was naturalized as a U.S. citizen in 1866 in Bowling Green, Wood, Ohio. The Sly family lived in Plain Township, Wood, Ohio on 14 Jul 1870 and remained there through at least 1880.
William died on 17 Jun 1894 at the age of 68 and was buried in Oak Grove Cemetery in Bowling Green. Harriet remained in Plain Township through 1900, but she died on 27 Dec 1906 at the age of 68 in Bowling Green. She was buried in Oak Grove Cemetery with her husband.
William Sly and Harriet E. Callin had five children:
188 i. William James Sly, born 15 Oct 1859, Ohio; married Ada Avery, 13 Jan 1881, Wood County, Ohio; died 22 Jan 1931, Dayton, Montgomery County, Ohio.
ii. Elmer A Sly was born on 6 Jul 1862 in Wood County, Ohio. and lived with his parents in Plain Township, Wood County. Elmer died on 11 Jul 1890 at the age of 28 and was buried in Oak Grove Cemetery in Bowling Green.
189 iii. Alice E Sly, born 1864, Ohio; married Cyrus M. Young, 1883; died 1896, Bowling Green, Wood, Ohio.
190 iv. Eugene T Sly, born 31 Oct 1866, Ohio; married Anna Barbara Gano, 25 Dec 1888, Ohio; married Lillian Mae Swindler, 1897, Ohio; died 20 Dec 1951, Los Angeles, Los Angeles County, California.
191 v. Harriet May Sly, born 12 Aug 1877, Plain Township, Wood, Ohio; married Jesse Dony Mills, 24 Dec 1901, Wood County, Ohio; married Arthur C Solverson, abt 1929; died 18 Dec 1949, Ashland, Ashland, Ohio.
