CFH First Draft: Mary Ferguson McNabb

Mary E Ferguson is the 43rd person in a descendant report beginning with the earliest known ancestor of our Callin family, (1.) James Callin. This descendant report uses the Register Style of the New England Historic and Genealogical Society.

Fourth Generation

43. Mary E Ferguson (Eliza Callin-3, John-2, James "1st"-1) was born in 1833 in Ohio, and she grew up in Jackson, De Kalb County, Indiana. Mary and Reuben McNabb were married on 16 Nov 1854 in De Kalb, Indiana. Reuben was the youngest son of John McNabb (1792–1860) and Mary Young (1787–1873), born on 25 Dec 1829 in Pennsylvania.

Reuben and Mary lived in Jackson, De Kalb, Indiana in 1860. They moved to Michigan in about 1865, and they lived in Chester, Eaton County, Michigan in 1870 and 1880.

Mary died about 1895 at the age of 62 in Grand Rapids, Kent, Michigan. Reuben remained in Grand Rapids through at least 1896. He was an inmate in the Missaukee County Home in Reeder, Missaukee County, Michigan in 1910 and he died there on 5 Apr 1911 at the age of 81.

Reuben McNabb and Mary E Ferguson had eleven children:

i. George W McNabb was born on 19 Sep 1855 in Jackson, De Kalb, Indiana. He appeared with his family on the census in 1860 and 1870, but after that, we do not know his fate.

141 ii. James M. McNabb, born 2 Jun 1858, De Kalb, Indiana; married Hattie E Sider, Kent County, Michigan; died 16 Mar 1938, Grand Rapids, Kent County, Michigan.

iii. Eliza J McNabb was born on 5 Apr 1860 in Jackson, Indiana. She burned to death at the age of nine years in 1869 at the age of 9.

142 iv. John C McNabb, born 20 Sep 1860, Indiana; married Inez M. Atkins, 25 Dec 1912, Kalamazoo, Kalamazoo, Michigan; died 1 Dec 1932, Battle Creek, Calhoun, Michigan.

143 v. William C McNabb, born 21 Nov 1861, Indiana; married Edna May Hall, 20 Mar 1889, Grand Rapids, Kent, Michigan; died 31 May 1918, Grand Rapids, Kent, Michigan.

144 vi. John Goldsmith McNabb, born 4 Dec 1863, Auburn, De Kalb, Indiana; married Ida Ann Sack, 1 Nov 1890, Ottawa County, Michigan; died 24 Dec 1943, Alturas, Modoc, California.

145 vii. Nancy Ellen McNabb, born abt 1866, Michigan; married Frank Edward Hazard, 7 May 1886, Chester, Eaton, Michigan; died 24 Dec 1891.

146 viii. Marcus Ebenezer McNabb, born 17 Oct 1868, Chester, Eaton, Michigan; married Sarah Elizabeth McKelvey, 5 Nov 1898, Grand Rapids, Kent, Michigan; died 18 Sep 1937, Grand Rapids, Kent, Michigan.

147 ix. Martha Jane McNabb, born 17 Oct 1868, Ionia County, Michigan; married Hiram Warner Sheren, 26 Jun 1885, Chester, Eaton, Michigan; died abt 1892, Eaton County, Michigan.

148 x. Mary E McNabb, born 2 Feb 1871, Eaton County, Michigan; married Charles Walter Menges, 9 Dec 1900, Waukesha, Wisconsin; died 21 Apr 1940, Battle Creek, Calhoun, Michigan.

149 xi. Oliver Otis McNabb, born 19 Apr 1874, Lansing, Eaton, Michigan; married Maud Margaret Schravenrand, 4 Jul 1899, Grand Rapids, Kent, Michigan; died 21 Sep 1931, San Francisco, California.
