Fifth Generation

119. Anna L Callin (William H-4, George-3, John-2, James-1) was born on 19 Feb 1865 in Huron County, Ohio, and grew up in Richmond. Anna married Walter A Williams on 17 Nov 1887 in Huron County, Ohio. Walter, son of Joshua Williams (1811 – 1898) and Hannah Sowder (1832 – 1884), was born in July 1860 and grew up in New Haven, Huron County, Ohio.

Walter and Anna were married for 19 years, and raised four children in New Haven before Anna's death on 13 Feb 1908 at age 42 in Willard, Huron County. While the older children were almost adults by then, the youngest, Eva, was only 7. Walter re-married on 17 Jan 1909 in New Washington, Crawford County, Ohio, to Clara Catherine Schiefer (1884–1969), and he moved with his two younger children and his new wife to Kansas City, Missouri.

The family was not in Kansas City for long, and Walter, Clara, and Eva returned to Huron County by 1920. After Eva married, Walter and Clara remained in Willard. Walter survived until 1949, outliving both of his sons, but seeing all of his grand-children grow to adulthood. He died on 10 Jan 1949 at age 88 and was buried in Maple Grove Cemetery in New Haven, Huron County. Clara died on 2 May 1969 at age 85 and was also buried in the Maple Grove Cemetery.

Walter’s obituary appeared in the Mansfield News-Journal on 10 Jan 1949:

“Willard--Walter A. Williams, 88, of Willard, died at Willard Memorial hospital this morning after an illness of several weeks. Mr. Williams was a life-long resident of Willard and a retired building contractor. He was a member of the Grace Methodist church and the Masonic lodge at Willard. He is survived by his wife, Clara; two daughters, Mrs. Mabel Weinboer of Akron and Mrs. Eva Tillery of Hamilton; a sister, Mrs. Stella Strauger of Los Angeles, Calif., two brothers, Herman Williams of Painesville and Elver Williams of Springfield. Rev. J.F. Herion, pastor of the Grace Methodist church, will conduct funeral services at the church at 2 p.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in New Haven cemetery. Friends may call at the Fink funeral home in Willard until time of services.”
