CFH First Draft: Thomas Jefferson Callin

Thomas Jefferson Callin is the 22th person in a descendant report beginning with the earliest known ancestor of our Callin family, (1.) James Callin. This descendant report uses the Register Style of the New England Historic and Genealogical Society.

Fourth Generation

22. Thomas Jefferson Callin (Thomas-3, James "2nd"-2, James "1st"-1) was born in Jul 1827 in Ohio. Jefferson married Susannah (Susan) Egner on 16 Dec 1848 in Richland, Ohio. Susan was born in Sep 1829 in Pennsylvania.

Jeff was a shoemaker, and his family lived mainly in Weller Township, Richland County, Ohio, most likely in Olivesburg. They appeared in Mansfield, Richland County, in 1884, but they moved from the city back to Weller Township by 1900.

Jeff died on 24 May 1902 at the age of 74 and was buried in Olivesburg, Richland, Ohio. Susannah lived in Weller Township in 1904, as local newspapers mentioned her being visited by her son and friends in that year; it is estimated that she died before 1910 at about the age of 81.

Thomas Jefferson Callin and Susannah (Susan) Egner had eight children:

i. Alice Callin was born in 1850 and died at one month old.

ii. Mary Callin was born in 1851 and died in 1861 at the age of 10.

71 iii. Martin L. Callin, born 9 Aug 1853, Ohio; married Mary Elizabeth Rearick, 11 Mar 1876, Richland, Ohio; died 13 Feb 1889, Bucyrus, Crawford County, Ohio.

72 iv. Clara A Callin, born 19 Jun 1856, Richland County, Ohio; married Jacob Mohn, 1875; died 19 Aug 1924, Franklin, Richland, Ohio.

73 v. Frederick A Callin, born 8 Oct 1858, Olivesburg, Richland, Ohio; married Priscilla Creveling, 7 Oct 1883, Richland, Ohio; died 8 Jul 1920, Mansfield, Richland, Ohio.

74 vi. George L Callin, born 10 Nov 1860, Olivesburg, Richland, Ohio; married Catherine Bell Imhoff, 1889, Richland, Ohio; died 21 Jan 1917, Mansfield.

75 vii. Delbert Dean Callin, born 9 Aug 1863, Ashland County, Ohio; married Hattie A Stull, 3 Jun 1890, Morrow County, Ohio; married Mary E Coleman, 1892; died 6 Feb 1934, Ashland County, Ohio.

76 viii. Minnie A. Callin, born Jun 1872, Ohio; married Wilson C Urich, 1890; died 1954.
