Fifth Generation

66. Theodore Bruce Davidson (Sarah Montgomery-4, Elizabeth Callen-3, James "2nd"-2, James "1st"-1) was born on 3 July 1848 in Rochester, Fulton County, Indiana, and he was about four years old when his family took the Oregon Trail westward. Theodore eventually inherited the land there.

Theodore married his first wife, Margaret Ann Work in 1876. Her parents were most likely David Work (1815–1893) and Marinda E "Mary" Wilk (1814–1886). Margaret was born on 13 Sep 1855 in Indiana, and she grew up in Iowa, moving to Oregon with her family in about 1874.

Theodore was a dairy farmer, and he and Margaret raised their family on their farm in Shedd, until the 1900s when they were able to retire and moved to Lane County. They lived in Blanton (1900) and in Eugene (1910), where Margaret died on 22 Dec 1915. She was buried in the Eugene Pioneer Cemetery.

After Margaret died, Theodore married his second wife, the widowed Margaret Ellen (Waggoner) Kizer, on 15 Feb 1917 in Eugene. She was born on 29 Sep 1865 in Brownsville, Linn County, to Bird Waggoner (1810–1892) and Nancy Elizabeth Gray (1839–1885), and she had four children from her first marriage to Ovid Jackson Kizer (1863–1906). He died in Eugene on 25 May 1906 after being kicked in the head by a horse.

When Theodore died on 11 Mar 1932 he was survived by his widow and seven of his nine children. Margaret Kizer Davidson died on 5 Mar 1947 in Eugene, and she was buried in Alford Cemetery in Harrisburg, Linn County, next to her first husband. Theodore’s obituary ran in The Eugene Guard on 11 Mar 1932.

“T.B. Davidson

“Theodore Bruce Davidson died early Friday morning at his home, 650 Thirteenth avenue west, at the age of 83 years. He had been ill a year. He was one of a large family that came across the plains to Oregon from Indiana in 1852 and settling on a donation claim near Shedd. The land has been in the Davidson family since, Mr. Davidson owning it at the time of death.

“He was born July 3, 1848, and was four years old at the time the family came west. He was married in Central Linn county, in 1875 to Margaret M. Work. They lived there until 1898 when they came to Eugene. Mr. Davidson was in the dairy business for many years here until 10 years ago, Mrs. Davidson died in 1915.

“On Feb 15, 1917, he was married to Mrs. Margaret Ann Kizer. He is survived by his widow, and seven of his nine children, Mrs. Stella Caldwell, Salem; Dr. Bertha Davidson, Eugene; Mrs. Ella Austin, Woodland; Bruce Davidson, Tacoma; Mrs. Mary Straub of Omaha, Neb., and Dr. Frank Davidson, Los Angeles; and one brother, William Davidson, Albany.

“Mr. Davidson was a member of the I.O.O.F. lodge and the Christian church.
